Situation
Matopos Nationalpark (also called Matobo) is located in the southwest of the country, about 30 km south of the city of Bulawayo. The park consists of two parts: the Game Park and the larger natural park. Matopos is the Park of the spectabular rock formations, of prehistoric cave paintings, and last but not least home to many rhinos.
.
Highlights
- Awesome scenery of rocky hills

- Easily accessible, widely with 2x4 as well
- Very nice hiking trails up the hills and mountains or discovery walks to prehisotirc caves
Nature
From the ridge of "World's View" you will have a magnificent view of the unique rock moonscape, especially at sunset. We also recommend hiking trips in the nature reserve and as a unforgettable specialty a "Rhino tracking", a guided foot walk to white rhinos.
Accomodation
All hotels offer half and full board at customer's option. In the park and its surroundings there are no restaurants or shops. If you decide to lodge in a self-catering accomodation, you have to bring your food from Bulawayo.

Car
The park can be easily be done by car. The main roads are tar roads, but the access roads to some of the famous caves can be quite difficult for cars, even with four-wheel drive. Anyway a short hike to visit these places is mostly the better option.
Fuel
There is no fuel station within the park or near by. We advise to fill up when leaving Bulawayo towards Matopos National Park.
