Chimanimani National Park

Situation

Chimanimani is a rather remote area in the southern part of the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. The National Park is well known by adventurous hikers, who enjoy various trails far away from civilisation. If you stay for several days in the park, you find shelter for the night in a mountain hut or as a very special event in one of the natural caves. Ethictours offers guided walks in this unspoiled, deserted area.

Within the National Park you can stay at a very simple mountain hut without any comfort or go for the adventure and pass the night in one of the spectacular caves (sleeping bag needed).

Some Gueshouses/Hotels have meals on offer. When self catering, you can buy your fod in a rather well equipped shop at Chimanimani Town. With Ethictours exclusively you can book an authentic African meal at the fire in the northern part of the Chimanimani Region.

Car

The main roads are (winding) tar roads. The access road to the National Park is initially tarred, but soon after having left Chimanimani Town it turns into a rough road. It is advisable to have a car with good ground clearance or even better a 4x4.

There exists a filling station at Chimanimani Town. To be on the safe side, you best fill up before coming to this area.
